Learning Objectives

1. Discuss appropriate use of enteral (per GI tract) and parenteral (IV) nutrition in a variety of patient settings and clinical conditions.
2. Recognize the criteria used to define malnutrition.
3. Describe the impact of dose and timing of enteral nutrition on clinical outcomes.
4. Compare and contrast 2:1 and 3:1 parenteral nutrition solutions.
5. Explain the impact of stability and compatibility in parenteral nutrition solutions.
