Basic Principles of Transplant Therapy: The Use of Immunosuppressants
Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss the goals of immunosuppression and the various immunosuppressive strategies used in the care of solid organ transplant patients.
2. Review the basic mechanisms, dosing and adverse effects of the different immunosuppressants.
3. Explain why different immunosuppressive regimens are used.
4. Outline the different types of organ rejection and their treatments.
5. Identify the most common complications of long-term immunosuppression.
